Software selection was the by far most challenging part of ramping up my own embroidery journey. Purchasing software can be costly, and understanding the different types can be confusing for beginners. The exact type of software you need, though, depends on your embroidery design aspirations. You need embroidery software for everything from editing and customizing designs to creating your own embroidery designs, which is called digitizing. Well, it turns out, that’s just not how it works. When I first started embroidering, I imagined putting an SVG or JPG image on a USB, plugging it into my machine, pressing start, and watching my machine magically embroider the image.
